February, but for Artists
This is it, guys. This is the stuff I get so excited for.
Allow me to introduce you to my new favorite thing: Month of Love. This is a month-long challenge similar to NaNoWriMo or #Inktober. Month of Love is geared towards illustrators and provides weekly prompts during February. The program encourages artists to pump out four to five portfolio-ready pieces, finished and polished.
The prompts are open-ended and really meant as a loose jumping-off point. Here’s what they’ve planned for 2017:
- Secrets (Feb 1-3)
- Innocent (Feb 6-10)
- Keys (Feb 13-17)
- Metamorphoses (Feb 20-24)
- Light (Feb 27-28)
The challenge actually happens twice a year, and in October it becomes Month of Fear.
Like I mentioned above, this is an amazing opportunity to build your illustration portfolio and create a series of pieces much more polished than you ever could in #Inktober.
I’m already overboard with ideas for the project, but I know I’m going to incorporate two repeating characters (nicknamed Gold and Blue) and an homage to the Silent Hill aesthetic.
What are you going to do?
