Making a New Twitchiversary

by | Apr 12, 2016

Today I have some amazing news.

Things are finally changing, and promises I’ve been making for months are finally coming to fruition! This means a ton of exciting things for the Destroyer Nation. But before I can tell you about all this awesome-sauce, let me tell you where we’ve been.

Let’s start from the beginning

On September 23, 2014, I ran OBS and streamed to Twitch for the first time. I experienced a potent combination of community and focus that helped me to start making more art than I had in years. I loved it. I streamed in every spare moment up until I started my day job (the adventure of UX Design in corporate America) in January 2015. In the fifteen months since then, I’ve done everything I can to stream despite my draining job.

Because the truth is, all I’ve wanted since I discovered Twitch is to spend my days making art with you, my amazing community.

My stream dipped during the summer of 2015. I couldn’t make enough time to stream, and when I did, I could feel how quiet my community had become. When I started my job and switched my stream schedule from mornings to evenings, I lost all my hard-earned friends. I just wasn’t streaming during their time anymore. So I had to build an entirely new audience.

The benefit of this was that I got to spend one-on-one time with a lot of you.

And I’ve made some amazing friends. People have been so supportive, spending hours in my stream, showing up before I go live, subscribing through my GameWisp, and telling their friends about my channel. I owe you guys, and I’m so grateful to each and every one of you.

The news: I’m going full-time!

As of April 25th, I will be working on art full-time. What does this mean for the stream?

I’m going to follow some sage advice from ThatDanishGuy (find him on Twitch and Twitter). I’ll start small and build a foundation with three streams a week plus one Adobe stream. This coincides with a permanent slot change on Adobe, so we’ll have an entirely new schedule. You can keep up to date with my new times on speq.me.

Here’s an overview

Tuesdays 4pm-7pm MST Illustration Stream

Thursdays 4pm-7pm MST Study with Stevie

Fridays 1pm-4pm MST Illustration Stream

And Adobe Saturdays from 4pm-7pm MST

Stream segment descriptions

I’ll be working on Going Still quietly, off stream, to surprise you guys with the issues. I’ll be inviting you in to my study process as I work on building my skills and building my illustration portfolio. I hope to reach a wild goal of 10 portfolio pieces before IlluxCon in October.

I hope you will all join me in this process, and I’m looking forward to spending much more time with you!
